Bio
Ronald C. Zabel is an experienced Biblical Dispute Resolution Professional. He founded a non-profit peacemaking ministry in Fairfax Virginia in February 1995, now known as Conflict Resolution and Conciliation Center, Inc., which he led for seventeen years and continues to serve on its board. He currently serves as an associated dispute resolution professional with its operating program, Conflict To Peace. He has over thirty-five years of experience dealing with individual, family (including, relationship preservation and restoration, parenting, separation, custody, equitable distribution, elder care, and estate issues), business, workplace, employment, organizational, community, church and public policy conflicts as a negotiator, mediator, conflict coach and arbitrator. Ron is also experienced in conflict intervention, particularly in church, workplace and other inter- and intra-organizational contexts, and has taught dispute resolution principles and practice, Christian Conciliation, mediation and personal peacemaking in a wide variety of formats and venues.
Ron also has experience teaching dispute resolution principles and practice, Christian Conciliation, mediation and personal peacemaking in a variety of formats including overviews, workshops, seminars, multi-day intensive blocks, and extended multi-week programs. He is a coach/trainer for the Institute for Christian Conciliation's Certification Program for Christian Conciliators and has taught at multiple Peacemaker Ministries conferences and Conciliator Training Practicums.
Prior to founding Conflict Resolution and Conciliation Center, he completed a career as a legal officer for the United States Coast Guard where he had extensive experience dealing with people in conflict and facilitating conflict resolution. He also served as a Military Judge.
Ron earned a J.D. from George Washington University and a B.A. from the University of Washington. He is certified by the Judicial Council of Virginia as a court-referred mediator at all four certification levels and is a qualified mentor, and is also a Certified Christian Conciliator™ with the Institute for Christian Conciliation™ (a division of Ambassadors of Reconciliation).
Mr. Zabel’s professional memberships include: Virginia State Bar, Fairfax Bar Association, Association for Conflict Resolution, Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia, Virginia Collaborative Professionals, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Christian Legal Society, Virginia Mediation Network, and The Virginia Alternative Dispute Resolution Joint Committee.
