Conflict management coaching or conflict coaching is a one-on-one structured process that is goal-driven, future-focused, and action-oriented. Professional coaching aims to support clients raise self-awareness about their thought processes, emotions, and behaviors in conflict.  In this introductory overview, participants learn the following based on the globally recognized CINERGY© Conflict Coaching model:

  • Coaching as a profession with broad application
  • Distinctions between coaching, mediation, and counseling
  • Coaching behavioral competencies
  • Entry points into conflict coaching: before, during, or after a conflict event
  • A conflict analysis tool to understand each person's perspective of the situation  

**Approved for 1.5 hours CME credits (0.0 ethics) by the Supreme Court of Virginia**

Presenter’s Bio:

Patricia “Pattie” Porter, PCC is the Founder and President of Conflict Connections, Inc. located in San Antonio, Texas. Pattie’s dispute resolution career spans 28+ years as a workplace and EEO mediator, team facilitator, and conflict coach. The highlights of her career serving as the President of the Texas Association of Mediators, Co-Chair of the Workplace Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution, as well as serving as a formal mentor to the Department of Navy mediators. She presents on various conflict and coaching topics including abrasive behaviors to the United Nations Ombuds and teaches the CINERGY® conflict coaching model to dispute resolution graduates at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She is the author of two Mini-buks: Stop the Dreaded Drama and Stop Avoiding Conflict.
